Brotherhood of the Wordless

Fire Flies

Posted on June 4, 2023
As eating with a festival like atmosphere and the time
seemed to arrive on the horizon of the sunset
The aerial display of the fireflies easily was captivating, especially as
they seemed so delighted, as really they swirled through the sky,
escaping the harsh daylight sun; easily getting to see them.

Thoughts, thoughts holding me, really not asking me,
hoping that I can stay and watch.
We are seemingly stuck, seemingly at a crossroads
as to a choice between a dream that gives us hope
and one that gives us fear.

As the fireflies ease away pleading with them to return eternally,
as their bright lights glimmer with hope for near future for humanity,
with baited breath, using my newfound courage, my eyes will open
and my night empty in without fear, then will I move forward to drive
a new path through the dark desert of the unknown.
