Brotherhood of the Wordless

Steven van der Ham

Hello, my name is Steven van der Ham and I am 34 years of age and have autism. In the past, I have always enjoyed living with my family in my one and only home. I have recently moved into my friend’s home to co-share.

This has been a big achievement for me and was achieved using the support of a great team. I am fortunate to be sharing with a great guy who also uses Facilitated Communication.

I enjoy voluntary work at eWaste, cooking meals, bushwalking, meeting with my fellow nonverbal friends and writing poems. I was introduced to Facilitated Communication when I was 18 years of age. This has opened up my life to expressing myself creatively. With my good support and avenues of interest, my days are fulfilling.
